FCA'S
1)Give a complete summary of the four sites you visit in the cd (lawyer, police, school, doctor)
2)Tell who you turned out to be in the cd,
3)Give your view on the problems related to drinking/drugs and driving.
The first place i visited on the cd was the school, were i had the chance to where they gave alternative options to stop your friend from driving while drunk, here are what some of the answers of advice were, When you act laid back the person thinks that if u drive them home its not a big deal, Use a different approach if the person still refuses keep trying, Use another angle , use this when the person denies being drunk, use less offensive words, to avoid embarrassing the person have more then one person use a better approach, Do not let them go, if they have been drinking. The school also gave some facts that were very interesting. For every teen killed in a motor vehicle crash, about 100 other suffer from non-fatal injuries. Sensation seeking is the #1 personality risk in teen drunk drivers.
My next visit was at the police station were i met detective Hernandez and there i learned some interesting facts, Crashes are twice as likely when teenage drivers have other teenagers in the car, also i learned how to recognize a drunk driver by either the way they swerve ,weave, and if they have their headlights off. Another spot that i visited at the police station was that people who believe they can avoid arrest when they are driving under the influence might take more chances. Another reason why teen drivers who have been drinking get arrested right away is in order to get federal money, states are required to have a zero tolerance laws for underage drinkers. This means that even if you have a very low blood alcohol level from 0.1 to 0.2- about one drink you can be arrested for a DUI.
The third visit was with the lawyer the lawyer went over penalties in an activity where you were the judge and what you would give the driver of the cause of the accident, i gave her two counts of 2nd degree murder, because she killed two people for driving dunk and now will face up to 60 years in prison without probation. The woman driving the vehicle that hit the teenagers car at a speed of 70mph claimed that she only had one Margarita a lunch time. Also the lawyer gave the definition of a totaled car which means that the cost to repair the damage is greater then the value of the car. This means that an older car with little damage maybe considered totaled.
My last stop was at the doctors office where he went over brain damage. Beginning drivers have the highest rates and the risk of a crash for teenagers increases by 5% after one or two drinks- this is much greater then for more experienced drivers. Some thing i learned, that no mater what speed you are traveling can cause brain damage, Brain damage is caused by the brain hitting the skull. Brain damages has major affects on your body by causing you to not concentrate, forget things, loss of smell or taste, difficulty of motor skills, and mood swings. The effects alcohol have on your brain:
- Slowed messages to the brain
- slurred speech
- Blurred vision
- poor judgement
- sloes your breathing
- memory loss
The effects marijuana have of your brain:
- misjudged speed
- misjudged braking
- missing danger signals
- emotional deception
- memory loss
- reduced attention
- poor coordination
- poor road tracking
I also learned more about how seat belts affect you when you are in a crash, The use of a seat belt reduces your risk of dyeing in a car accident by 60%. More teens die in crashes because 80% are not wearing there seat belt.
The person i turned out to be was the bicyclist and i survived with minor injuries, But i do have memory loss.
The problems with drinking and driving or under the influence of anything is that the person who has been doing the stupid stuff is that there to messed up to realize that they can take someones life easily, someone they don't even know or someone who is innocently walking down the street or driving home but never make because of that person, police need to crack down more on people using the substances and then driving, to help families so they don't have to deal with a death.

- A hillcerst because you u cannot see what is coming.
- A curve because you still cannot see what is coming.
- A railroad crossing because if a train came then you dont know what or how fast the train is coming at you
- Intersetions is an unsafe because there is cars moving st hte intersection and you could hit one.
- Tunnels are a bad palce to pass because they are narrow.
- A bridge is a bad place to pass because you could hit the guard reail and go off the bridge.
- no passing zones because the sign said so.
- oncoming traffic because there isn't enough room to pass with a car coming you dont have the space and or time.
Using the power point 9.02 I would like you to explain the time and space needs for passing another vehicle. You are traveling at 60 mph and the car you are about to pass is going 40 mph. you will need to multiply each speed by 1.5 in order to find the feet per second that each car is traveling. Please explain how long it will take you to pass the vehicle, the number of feet that you will travel in each of the three parts of the passing maneuver. the total feet and time it will take, and compare that to the length of a football field which is 300 feet long. This is a type 2 writing. Remember to use the 9.02 power point to find the information you will need to solve the question
Type-2 The time and sapce that somone needs for passing. If the car traveling at 60 mph it is covering 90 feet, if the car that is going to pass you is going 40 mph then it is covering 60 feet per second, it would take you 10 seconds to pass the car going 40. the car going 60 mph it will take that person 15 sec. to pass the car going 40 mph, which will make it travel at the lenth of three foot ball feleids.

Type-2
Timing your arrival for a green light, you should see the light in your target area, also you should see the red light as a closed front zone. When coming closer to the light chrck your rear zone, alert the person behind you by taping your brakes.now start your constant braking. Now you should time the arrival into an open zone. Once stoped, At 10mph, go or stop, at a green light search the intersection and at a red light stop smoothly.
Type-2 The benifits of keeping a four second following distance is that it opens your view to see better. Allows you to gather vital information, Allows you to paln ahead, allows adequate for reduced risk responses, removes control the front vehicle has over ur actions,Eliminates or minimizes surprises, decreases or eliminates stress, decreases the likelihood of crashing your car into the one you are following, you learn to valuye the open space and your ability to actulley create more time an space, and you become acutley aware of the disatvantages of having lesser amounts of space.

1) explain what the Vermont Graduated License Law is all about
2) Express in your own words how you feel about the law and would you suggest any changes to the law,
3) correct spelling and grammar
The Vermont graduated driver license law is about after receiving your permit you must go through drivers ed and also must do at least 40 hours of driving before you can get your Junior operators license you have to hold your Junior operators license until you turn 18 and then you apply for a graduated operators license, your graduated operators license is when you have really no limitations, I think that this is a good law because once you have learned it all you can put it to good use and avoid accidents from when you learned about safety in drivers ed or from having your permit with limitations it helps you learn not to make mistakes.

Five ways to effectively communicate with other drivers are
- Headlights, are an effective way because if you flick your high beams on and off that tells the other driver that there is a danger up ahead or something to take caution by.
- Horn, can be good for if someone is backing you and don't see you
- Hand signal, can be used by if you are stopped at an intersection you can use a hand signal to tell that person to proceed before you, or someone may have something wrong with there vehicle and can try to let them know.
- Brake lights, lets people know that are behind you that you are stopping or slowing down
- Turning signals , can be used to let people know that you are turning.

Type 2:
A legal stop is when you have a red light or flashing red light and come to a complete stop, If there is no stop line to stop at then stop at a crosswalk, or a sidewalk known as the curb. A safety stop is made when you have an unregulated intersection, when there's no stop signs, and you don't have enough time to make a turn, or go straight. A staggered stop is when you apply pressure to the brake over and over again until you come to a complete stop. Point-of-no-turn is the point beyond which a driver can no longer stop safely without entering the intersection.

Vernon man held in Newport for DUI, break-in
Reformer.com
Tuesday, June 26BRATTLEBORO -- A local man is being held on $5,000 bail in connection with the theft of an SUV in Brattleboro and a break-in at the Seymour Market in Morgan.
Kenneth Martel, 45, of Vernon pleaded innocent to felony charges of grand larceny, unlawful trespass and aggravated operation of another's vehicle June 13, as well as a misdemeanor charge of petty larceny, according to records in Orleans District Court.
Martel also pleaded innocent to felony drunken driving for an accident in Morgan that led to his arrest on June 11, records show.
Martel is being held in Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport for the lack of bail.
The Caledonian-Record reports that senior trooper Michael LaCourse was responding to the report of a burglary at Seymour Market on the morning of June 11 when he came upon a crashed Ford Explorer on Valley Road near Morgan. He found Martel walking not far away, LaCourse said.
Martel told police he was camping out at a relative's camp on Holland Pond and had been seen taking items from his vehicle and hiding them, according to the report. The items, including cigarettes, beer and a rope, matched with what was missing
from the market, LaCourse said.
Martel admitted breaking into the store, as well as stealing a kayak and other items from a neighbor on Holland Pond, LaCourse said.
The Explorer was stolen from Unique Auto in Brattleboro on June 7 or 8.
LaCourse arrested Martel and he was held on $10,000 bail until his arraignment June 13, records show.
Martel has a record that includes burglary, drunken driving and violating conditions of release in Windham District Court in Brattleboro.
Brattleboro man faces several charges following head-on collision
Type 1 -I think this shows you what driving under the influence is not a good thing because you cause an accident and you can also get yourslfe in trouble like the guy in the article he robbed a store while drinking.
Type-3
FCA'S
- Describe the point system in Vermont using the state statutes found this page,
- Use the spell check
- give your feeling about the law
The point system is for when you are pulled for breaking the law in some way then points are added ,to your licence, once you meet a maximum amount of points then your licence is taken away, if you reach ten points your licence is suspended for 10 days, if you reach 20 point its 20 days and so on.
I think that this is a good law, or system because it teaches you not to brake the law while driving. when you brake the law and get caught the police officer will initiate points to your licence and a fine to pay, points depend on what you have done to receive a certain amount of points. This is also a bad law because if you loose your licence then you cant drive to work and then you may get fired.

Two: Explain in your own words what is meant by the terms Yaw, Roll and Pitch.
Three: Explain what the three parts of your vision are and how you would use each part for driving.
Four: Explain what is meant by the terms Target Area and Target Path and give an example of how you would use these while driving.
Five: Describe what transition Pegs are and explain what part of the car is used for transition pegs for right and left turns.
Part 1: HAVERHILL, Mass. -- A woman who police said was behind the wheel of a car when it hit and killed a mother from Danville, N.H., has been charged in connection with the crash.
Marie Pigaga, 46, of Plaistow, N.H., was charged Friday with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, speeding and lane violations.
Police said her car jumped a curb in Haverhill on Monday, careened into a car wash parking lot and struck Robin Young, 43, who was drying off her vehicle.
Young died of her injuries later that day.
Hours after Pigaga's arrest on Friday, hundreds of Young's friends and loved ones lined up outside Stockbridge Funeral Home in Exeter to pay respects at her memorial.
A line dozens-deep stretched out the door of the funeral home and calling hours were extended by two hours to accommodate the crowd.
Young's family called the crash a tragedy, not only for them, but also for Pigaga.
Risk Factors-
- Driving to fast
- under the influence
- thinking about things at home
- not following the rules of the road
Part two-
Yaw-Keeps your tires in balance, for if you were to skid
Roll-Force causing your car to be in and out of balance.
Pitch-Force put upon the front tires of your car, you need to keep your foot on the brake
Part three- Vision
Central-is 3-5 cone visibility, used for targeting your area
Peripheral- you see it but your eyes are not exactly at it, it is used so you know what things are there.
Fringe- sides of your central vision used for you to see your target path.
Part four- Target area, is the driving eviorment where the target is located. other wise known as keep your eyes forward at your target.
Target path-is your intended path of travel to the target area.the road that you would use watching for hazards on the way to your target so you can get there safely.
Part five- Transitional pegs identify the placement of the vehicle to the target area while the turn is being made. A transitional peg gives you a visual reference to determine the precise moment when to make a change in steering, accleration,or braking actions that will best keep the car in balance.
The parts of the car that are transitional pegs are:
- the transitional peg for steering recovery while making a right turn is the rear view mirror.
- the transitional peg for steering recovery while making a left turn is the drivers side corner post.

Broken radiator hose can be prevented by checking things under the hood before you go any place. No headlights on that can cause an accident and also can be prevented by turning them on. Hole in radiator that can be checked when you go to a mechanic. I don't know what designer drugs are. thinking about things at home can be prevented by going home to check things out. Opening a window can cause an accident by not paying attention to the road and can be caused by playing with the window instead of watching the road. Stopped traffic can not be prevented. A narrow bridge can also not be prevented it was built that way. Jogger running with traffic cannot be prevented unless you're the runner.

PEABODY, Mass. -- A trash truck rollover on Interstate 95 northbound in Peabody jammed the morning commute early Tuesday.
NewsCenter 5's Shiba Russell reported that the driver of the trash truck, Keith Little, was arrested after the crash. He was initially taken to a local hospital for a wrist injury but returned to the scene, where he was arrested.
The 18-wheel truck overturned near the junction of Route 1 north at the I-95 off-ramp, spreading about 92,000 pounds of trash, debris and fuel across the roadway at about 8:30 a.m. The ramp was closed for several hours while the debris was cleared.
"It seemed like it went over from the back first, trailer went over, cab went over and slid to a stop," said witness David Weiss.
Two nurses were driving behind the truck at the time of the crash.
"I was two cars behind him and as he turned the corner, the cab just flipped over," said nurse Rosemary Marella.
The nurses examined Little and stabilized his neck while they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Little's cell phone was lost in the debris, and he asked to use Weiss's phone to call his mother.
"He just wanted to make sure that she got the word first that he was OK before she started seeing about this," Weiss said.
Little had just left a Peabody trash facility when the crash happened.
"There were no skid marks or anything. We are not sure what caused the trailer to tip over," Massachusetts State Police Maj. Kevin Kelly said.
Little faces several charges including speeding, drug possession and overweight load without a valid permit, state police said.
The cause of the roll over was eathier from over loaded or driving to fast, that shows you that the driver wasnt paying attion to what he was doing or was doing more then five over the speed limit, also was under the influence of drugs, and didn't have a weight permit. This shows you what happens when youre under the influence and speeding with an over loaded truck.
